The tree
A tree in the coffee family
Kratom is Mitragyna speciosa, a tropical tree in the coffee family. It grows large glossy leaves in opposite pairs along reddish woody stems. The leaves are the product, and no other part of the tree is used.
The species is native to Southeast Asia and has a long history of traditional use there and in Africa. This green vein comes from one organic farm in Uganda, imported directly. African-grown kratom is uncommon.
The vein
Where the colour comes from
Green, red and white describe the colour of the midrib and stalk running down the leaf. This one has a green vein; once milled, the powder is sage-olive.
Strain names are heavily marketed. Batch differences are more usefully traced to the farm, subspecies, growing conditions and drying method than to a name on the jar.

Wind dried, milled, and lab tested
The leaves are dried in moving air, then milled to a fine powder. The jar contains leaf only, with no additives, fillers or bulking agents.
Every batch is tested for salmonella, E. coli, heavy metals and other foreign contaminants before sale.
Use it sparingly, and consider trying other plants before kratom.
